Each week the RDH PIRA (Patient Impact & Rise Above) recognition program, sponsored by Water Pik, Inc., features a dental hygiene clinician (or four) who excels in their role and goes the extra mile. The past two years have been a challenge for many clinicians and as we return to the operatory, we want to acknowledge those who provide patient care—clinicians who are changing their patients’ lives, influencing their patients’ health, and making a difference every day. This week we honor the Grin Getters.
Who are the Grin Getters?
There's no way this hard-working group of dental hygienists could have nominated just one among them. So all four are this week's PIRA recipients. Jeanne Barr, PHDH, RDH, Shannon Miller, PHDH, RDH, Jessica (Jessi) McKee, RDH, and Nicole (Niki) Connell, PHDH, RDH, are colleagues at a rural federally qualified health center (FQHC). Their experience runs the gamut: Jeanne has been with the company for 30 years and a mentor to many hygienists through the years. Shannon has been with the company for 16 years, Niki for 14, and Jessi for one.
From their nomination:
We work for a rural FQHC that serves more than five counties. Patients drive upwards of an hour to come to our facility not because this is their only option, but because they know they are going to receive quality care in a no-judgment zone! I can't say enough great things about my co-hygienists and what we all do day in and day out. With the job market the way it is, we have definitely all had opportunities to work in a private practice for more money, but we choose to continue in public health because we know that what we do makes a significant impact on our patients’ daily lives.
Visit the PIRA website to nominate someone today! Good luck, and we look forward to hearing from many outstanding and qualified colleagues!
