During the past year, this column has discussed topics that the dental hygienist can champion in support of cosmetic dentistry. I have found, however, that some readers are still not comfortable with what is involved with esthetic hygiene services. Some remain uncertain about how the services can be integrated into a dental practice.
To help clarify, I created the chart below. The chart's first purpose is an abstract comparison between traditional hygiene services and esthetic hygiene services. Secondly, it is to serve as a "snapshot" of topics that I plan on exploring in future issues. And finally, the chart at right, "Esthetic Treasures," offers a variety of products that can help the clinician along the road of esthetics.
