Chairside Impact: Pulpdent Embrace Varnish and Sealant

Jan. 1, 2022
The Embrace line of products from Pulpdent are high-quality and save dental professionals valuable chair time. If you're in the market for a new varnish or sealant, look no further.

When it comes to a fluoride varnish and pit and fissure sealant for my pediatric patients, I need something that’s quick, easy, and effective. Pulpdent Embrace products are made for clinicians who want quality results and easy application so they can stay in control of their busy schedules.

Embrace Prevention Varnish

Many hygienists prefer fluoride varnish to other methods of application because of how quick and easy it is to use and how long the teeth

are exposed to fluoride. The American Dental Association (ADA) highly recommends fluoride varnish as a preventive measure for patients with a moderate-to-high caries risk, regardless of age.1 Embrace Prevention Varnish contains 5% sodium fluoride with xylitol-coated calcium and phosphate (CXP). Since these minerals are coated in xylitol, they are kept in a nonreactive state until the varnish contacts saliva.2 This CXP blend makes Embrace Prevention Varnish stand out among other topical fluorides.

More Chairside Impact:

Aside from the advanced science behind this product, I love how easy it is to use! The varnish comes in small, single-use pouches that require no mixing or measuring. I simply squeeze the contents of the pouch onto the back of my gloved hand, dry my patient’s teeth, and apply a thin layer of the varnish with the included brush. This product smoothly glides on to enamel without getting clumpy or patchy. My patients like the mildly sweet flavor.

Embrace WetBond Pit and Fissure Sealant

We can’t go home with pediatric patients to ensure consistent home care, but we can place a barrier that will provide long-lasting protection

for their permanent posterior teeth once they leave the office. Pits and fissures attract decay, and research shows that sealants are one of the most effective ways to safeguard against bacterial destruction.3 Embrace WetBond Pit and Fissure Sealant is a light-cure resin material that releases fluoride and phosphate long after it is placed, providing patients with years of mineral fortification. It’s radiopaque, making it easy to detect on x-rays, and the shade of the material blends quite nicely with tooth enamel.4

The two things I love most about this sealant are its unrivaled material quality and ease of application. The WetBond technology is perfect for the pediatric stage where maintaining a perfectly dry field is notoriously difficult. The material bonds incredibly well to a slightly moist enamel surface. Other sealant materials can be runny, bubbly, and difficult to control while in their liquid state, but Embrace has the perfect consistency. It’s easy to apply just the right amount, and it spreads neatly and effortlessly into the deep, narrow geography of the occlusal surface with the gentle guidance of my preferred instrument. After light-curing, the margins are flawless.

It gives me peace of mind to know I’m treating my patients with high-quality preventive products while saving myself valuable chair time. Embrace allows me to say yes to the unexpected in my hygiene schedule without compromising my patient care . . . or my sanity!
