Timing and community for dental hygiene students

Sept. 26, 2024
Billie Lunt shares what dental hygiene students can do to get their career off to the best start possible. Community and networking play huge roles.
Jackie Sanders, MBA, RDH, Chief editor, RDH magazine

Her experience at RDH Evolution helped Billie Lunt find her peeps. It’s always comforting for dental hygienists to know they aren’t alone, and that so many dental hygienists think alike and agree on a lot.

Billie and I discuss what we can all do to support our students. First of all, students need to know they have a support network before they even enter the profession. There are plenty of resources for them to begin their careers, including RDH magazine, which is free to subscribe to.

The best thing they can do in school is build community, which will help them become more successful in their career. (Billie has a podcast designed for dental hygiene students called Happy Flosser, and she accepts suggestions for topics for her podcast.)
