What do you see? Identifying and charting oral pathology

Oct. 31, 2024
Andreina Sucre has made it her mission to help her peers become more knowledgeable and confident in their pathology diagnoses.

Andreina Sucre strives to make oral pathology more understandable, and give dental hygienists more confidence in their diagnosis and detection skills in pathology. If dental professionals have all the tools, diagnoses will become easier. She wants to help people understand what they’re seeing … the physiology behind pathology diagnoses.

It’s very important to properly record the pathology you view so that the entire team can see the same thing. Her office shares a pathology template, and Andreina’s articles in RDH contain plenty of photos so readers know what they’re learning about.

She explains the steps for when a dental professional notices something in a patient’s mouth, including proper communication with the patient and practice team.

Hear what Andreina and Jackie discuss about this very important part of our jobs, as Andreina continues her mission to share her knowledge and talents with her fellow hygienists so they can become more confident in this aspect of their job.
