Do you want to expand your hygiene education?

Jan. 28, 2025
It takes nerve and determination, but these two hygienists took the plunge and went back to school to advance their careers.

Ashley Smith, RDH, and Daneshka Cantres-Vega, RDH, are currently working on their bachelor’s degrees. But why did they move from great careers in clinical hygiene?

Neither one can see herself in clinical for the long haul, but they don't want to leave hygiene. Furthering their education was the best way to go. They both like a challenge, they're loving what they're learning, and they encourage their peers to consider the same move.

Ashley has been in clinical for 16 years and wanted a change. Daneshka is enjoying the educational experience and hopes to become a hygiene speaker and educator. Ashley also wants to be an instructor.

Both of them enjoy the patient educational aspect in their clinical practices because people often don’t know much about their oral health. The two take pride in sharing information that helps people improve their oral and overall health.

Going to school hasn't been easy, they agree, and they tell their peers to be ready for the challenge. But it's worth it.
