During the last year Katie Barrer has added derma fillers and neurotoxin into her dental hygiene practice, a hot topic in dental hygiene world. She, like many hygienists, has had patients who suffer from sleep bruxism. This treatment can help relieve their pain and can help preserve their overall tooth health.
It is currently legal in three states for dental hygienists to incorporate this treatment modality in their practices. In her practice, Katie recalls a recent patient who was in a great deal of pain and nothing had worked for her. After treatment in Katie's chair, she said the woman reported relief within two weeks.
Listen to our conversation to learn more. And remember that even if you're in a state that doesn't allow you to offer this treatment to your patients, you can still share information with them about what's available.
