Amanda Stottlemyer, RDH, South Charleston, WestVirginia
As a student:She graduated from the West Virginia University Institute of Technology in 1999. “I wanted to be involved in helping people achieve a healthy smile. I feel that having a smile that you are proud of is so important in many ways. Providing someone the confidence to smile can really change someone’s life.”
On a daily basis:She is an assistant professor in the dental hygiene program at BridgeValley Community and Technical College. “I love learning and sharing what I learn. I love seeing my students get excited about the field of dental hygiene and the important impact they can have in helping their patients achieve oral health.” She is also the president-elect for the West Virginia Dental Hygienists’ Association.
About Amanda: She resides with her husband, Dennis, son Jack, and two stepchildren, Alison and Kurt. “During my spare time, I love to be outside. I participate in the West Virginia Mountain Trail Runner Club, and race at many events, as well as provide aid during events when I do not race. I also enjoy biking and kayaking. I do two to three triathlons each year that involve running, rowing, and riding.”
