Wiley recently published “Treating the Dental Patient with a Developmental Disorder,” which helps dental professionals treat patients with intellectual and developmental disorders. The book was edited by Dr. Steven Perlman and Karen Raposa, RDH, and includes insights from 22 contributors covering aspects of the dental exam and hygiene appointment and restorative treatment.

Oral-B recently introduced the Deep Sweep power brush head. The newest brush head for the

Oral-B Professional Series line of power toothbrushes provides qualities of an electric brush without changing the shape and brushing motion of a manual brush. The Oral-B Deep Sweep features a combination of sweeping and stationary bristles with a angled power tip. The brush head will be available to consumers in early 2013.

Quantum Dental Technologies recently received clearance from the FDA for The Canary System. The Canary System is a low-powered laser-based tool for the detection of early tooth decay. Church & Dwight recently introduced Arm & Hammer Tooth Tunes, a new line of toothbrushes for kids. The patented technology delivers high quality sound by broadcasting music into the jaw, which is then transmitted through the inner ear, allowing the person brushing their teeth to hear the music. Each brush features two minutes of music to encourage longer brushing. Each brush includes one song, and nine different brushes feature rock anthems or pop hits such as “All Day” performed by Cody Simpson, or “I Gotta Feeling” performed by Black Eyed Peas.
